SAN MARCOS, CA (11/3/2023) -- Palomar College Men's Basketball opened their home schedule with a 79-71 win over LA Valley College on Friday night.
Spivey Word led all Comets with 26 points shooting 10-15 in the field. Adam Sevier and Kryztian Walton each had 12 points and Joseph Ogbebor and Beni Mokili rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11 points. The men were 19-33 at the free-throw line and shot 40.9% in the field. Walton led the team with 11 rebounds, his first double-double of the season. Sevier finished with four steals and Word had three. Word also recorded five assists, while Sevier had two. As a team, Palomar committed 16 turnovers but caused 24, in which they scored 25 points. The Comets also had 38 points in the paint and won the rebounding game 38-34.
Palomar jumps into the win column and moves to 1-1 on the season.
