No. 26 Comets tame Coyotes in PCAC opener

SAN MARCOS, CA (12/14/2022) -- In their Pacific Coast Athletic Conference opener, No. 26 Palomar faced Cuyamaca College and won 100-64.

The Comets outscored the Coyotes 50-31 in the first and 50-33 in the second to get the win on Wednesday night, a win the Comets needed heading into a rematch game against San Diego Miramar College on Friday night.

Sophomore Chad Robinson's offense was awoken as he went 7-13 in the field and 3-4 beyond the arc to finish the night as the leading scorer with 19 points. Freshman Kryztian Walton also posted big numbers in his best showing this season. He finished with nine rebounds, and one assist and went 7-9 to finish with 14 points and two blocks. Sophomore Clyde Harris recorded his fourth double-double of the season and his second in a row. He finished with 11 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and two steals. Sophomore Mickey Chew rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11 points as he went 4-8 in the field and 3-6 at the 3-point line. 

Palomar moves to 9-4 overall and 1-0 in PCAC play. They will face Miramar on Friday night in a rematch of the three-point game earlier this season. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
