Comets claw their back to take 3rd place

MIRAMAR, CA (11/5/2022) -- Palomar College faced Southwestern College in the third place game at the Don Gehler Memorial Tournament and won 85-70 in convincing fashion.

Down by 11 in the first half, the Comets clawed their way back to be down by one point at halftime. They then made adjustments at the half and turned on the jets to dominate the second half scoring 50 points to claim the victory.

Freshman Adam Sevier led the Comets with 22 points. He finished the day 8-14 with three rebounds and four assists. Sophomore Chad Robinson, who made the all-tournament team, ended the day with his first double-double of the season. Robinson had 10 rebounds and 14 points to go along with three assists and one steal. Freshman Ciro Baeza played a major role defensively as he caused a lot of turnovers, but didn't necessarily get credit for them. He finished the day with 10 points and one assist.

The Comets improve to 2-1 on the season and will face Long Beach City College on Friday for a 5 p.m. tipoff on the road.
