Comets in the rankings

SAN MARCOS, CA (12/8/2021) -- The new CCCAA polls for men and women's basketball came out this week and both the men and women's teams are ranked after strong November showings. The men are sitting at 7-3 after wrapping up their tournament season this past weekend and found themselves at No. 21 in the coaches poll. Their three losses came from PCAC opponents San Diego Miramar College and San Diego City College and L.A. Harbor College, all of which are ranked teams. The men will face Santiago Canyon this Friday on the road before opening up PCAC play next week against Miramar.

The women remain undefeated and are sitting at 8-0. Ranked No. 2 SoCal preseason, the women proved there was no dropoff from the 2019-20 season that was cut short due to COVID-19. They jumped to No. 1 in SoCal and are the No. 2 team in state behind the San Joaquin Delta College from up north. The women, as always, play a tough pre-conference season and this year is no exception. They have taken down East Los Angeles College, Allan Hancock College, Mt. San Jacinto College and Citrus College, all of which are ranked either in the state or in SoCal. Next week, the women will face Mt. San Antonio College at home in the Dome before hitting the road to face Moorpark College and LA Valley College at the Moorpark College Crossover.
