Comets fall 80-70 to Jaguars on the road

CHULA VISTA, CA (2/7/2020) – Palomar came close to defeating Southwestern College Friday night but couldn't get it done in the 80-70 loss.

The Comets were down 37-27 at halftime shooting 29 percent in the field compared to the Jaguars' 42.9 percent. In the second half both teams scored 43 points. The men improved their field goal shooting to 40 percent, but the Jaguars also improved theirs to 45.2 percent. Palomar got outrebounded 48-37 in the game, but only committed 12 turnovers to Southwestern's 14, of which allowed the Comets to score 18 points.

Sophomore Anthony Brewer led the Comets in scoring with 21 points going 7-15 in the field. Zadok Wilson finished the night with 13 points, five rebounds, two steals and an assist. Anthony Smith led the Comets in rebounding as he nabbed six for himself. Noah Woodby finished the night with 12 points, three rebounds and an assist.

The Comets fall to 17-7 overall and 8-4 in conference play. They will be home on Wednesday, Feb. 12 for a 6 p.m. tip against San Diego Mesa College.
