Comets crack top 10; face No. 5 Cerritos at 1 p.m. Saturday

SAN MARCOS, CA (10/25/2022) -- After a convincing win in the howling wind over Chaffey College, Palomar College has cracked the top 10 in the latest poll, finding themselves tied for ninth place with the north's Diablo Valley.

At 5-2, one of their best starts to the season in several years, the Comets have been quietly making some noise this season. In September they pulled off back-to-back overtime wins over then ranked College of the Canyons and San Diego rival San Diego Mesa College, to finish their pre-conference schedule 4-1. Now, in conference play, the Comets find themselves in a position they want to be in: bowl eligible. They need one more win to meet that goal and two more wins to host a bowl game for the second straight season.

This Saturday Palomar will face No. 5 Cerritos College. Last season the Comets defeated the Falcons on the road on a walk-off field goal by Landon Ogles, which propelled them to a 3-2 conference record and tied for second place. Palomar and Cerritos will kickoff at 1 p.m. at Escondido High School. Tickets are available for purchase online and the game will be broadcast.
