Football Preview: Week 8

SAN MARCOS, CA (10/25/21)- It is week eight of the football season for Palomar, as they face Cerriots on the road. The Comets are coming off a 45-10 win vs Chaffey.

Through seven games, the Comets average 310 yards of offense while giving up 372 yards on defense. The Comets average 26 points a game while giving up 24 points a game.

Comets quarterback Zeke Payne (Rancho Bernardo) is coming off a 17-31 190 yards two touchdowns performance. Tawee Walker (Cenntennial) leads the running backs group, as he averages 4.6 yards per rush. Brandon Johnson (El Camino) leads the wide receivers group, as he has 19 receptions for 257 yards and three touchdowns.

The Comets defense is led by linebacker Luke Manos (Rancho Bernardo), who has 37 tackles, including 7.5 tackles for loss for a total of 11 yards. Ricky Davis Jr (Arbor View) has four interceptions to lead the Comets defense. Kicker Landon Ogles (Rancho Bernardo) has made two 50+ yard field goals to move to 8-8 on the season. 

On the opposite side of the field, Cerritos's QB Cade McConnell has hit 82 of 151 passes for 800 yards and one touchdown. Running back Davon Booth has 75 carries for 319 yards and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Bailey Torres has 26 receptions for 321 yards and two touchdowns.

Cerritos's defense is led by defensive back Cody Coleman, who has 21 tackles and one interception. Defensive end Keith Conley has 18 tackles and three sacks. Kicker Moz Bojorquez has knocked down 8 field goals and one extra point.

The Comets look for their fourth win of the season and second conference win. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Cerritos on Saturday, October 30th.
