Lavoie, Swenson and more commit to four-years

SAN MARCOS, CA (1/12/2021) – Even though the 2020 baseball season was canceled, multiple Comet baseball players did not let the pandemic get in the way of their dreams of playing at the next level.

Left-handed pitcher, Dylan Delvecchio, has signed with California State University, Fullerton. In the 2020 season, Delvecchio had eight appearances with three starts. He was 2-2 with one save on the season. In 30 innings pitched, he allowed 29 runs on 43 hits to end with an ERA of 6.90. Delvecchio was a freshman hailing from Mission Hills High School.

James Benham, a freshman right-handed pitcher from Poway, has committed to Ottawa University. Benham appeared in three games. He only pitched two innings and allowed two runs on three hits.

Outfielder Brady Lavoie has signed with North Carolina State University. He played in 18 games for the Comets in the 2020 season. He had 74 plate appearances in which he had 15 runs on 17 hits. He had six doubles, a triple and two home runs on the season. With a batting average of .327, he had 21 RBIs. Lavoie is a La Costa Canyon High alumni.

Freshman right-handed pitcher, Chip Korbacher, has signed with the University of Cumberlands. The El Camino High alum pitched 11 innings, allowed 17 runs on 21 hits in eight appearances. He averaged 7.36 strikeouts a game.

Cade Swenson, a freshman right-handed pitcher from Paloma Valley High School in Menifee, has signed with New Mexico State University. Swenson appeared in eight games for the Comets. He allowed 12 runs on 12 hits. He had an ERA of 4.32.

CSU Fullerton plays in the Big West Conference as a NCAA DI school and finished the 2020 season 4-12. Ottawa University is an NAIA school in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference and finished the 2020 season 17-9 overall and 6-2 in conference play. NC State University finished the season 14-3 overall and 1-2 in conference play. They are an NCAA DI school and play in the ACC. The University of Cumberlands went 22-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play last season. They are an NAIA school and play in the Mid-South Conference. New Mexico State University is an NCAA DI school in the WAC. They went 12-4 overall last season.
