Comets pick up first road win

PALM DESERT, CA (2/19/2020) – Palomar traveled to College of the Desert on Wednesday and snapped their losing streak after a 12-5 win over the Roadrunners.

Down 3-0 in the fourth, the Comets were able to get four runs across the plate. Following two walks, a sacrifice bunt and a single by Cameron Rowles, two runs scored. Brady Lavoie then homered to left field for a 2-run home run. In the fifth inning, the Comets scored four more runs on three hits. Braden Sanford had a one out single to score Jaisten Cabatbat and Bryce Roe. The other two runs came from walks. Palomar continued their scoring frenzy in the sixth with another three runs. Sanford had another single for an RBI and then Noah Koehmstedt scored on a wild pitch and Sanford advanced to third. Rowles then singled to score Sanford. In the ninth inning, the Comets scored one more run when Lavoie scored on a wild pitch to seal the deal.

Dylan Delvecchio pitched eight innings for the Comets facing 38 batters. He five runs on nine hits, walked three and struck out 12. Trevor Riley closed out the game with two strikeouts and two hits.

The Comets improve to 4-8 overall and will face Cypress on Saturday, Feb. 22 on the road. First pitch will be at noon.
