Olympians, Eagles best Comets; PCAC individuals up next

SAN MARCOS, CA (4/22/2022) -- Palomar hit the road to face San Diego Mesa College and Mt. San Jacinto College on Friday and dropped two matches. Against a tough Mesa team, the Comets couldn't get in a groove and lost 5-0. Bouncing back, the 1s (Holland Hancock/Olivia Van Der Brink) and 4s (Jessica Hege/Lindsey Spohn) won their sets to get two points for the Comets, but after close matches by the 2s (Masha Molnar/Arielle Vannoy) and 3s (Alana Lacangan/Kenna Broach) Palomar ultimately fell 3-2. The 1s won their second match, 21-17 and 21-15 and have won two matches in the last four. The 4s won 23-21 and 21-18 and snapped a losing streak. 

Palomar will now move into the PCAC Individual Tournament play. Beginning on Wednesday, each pair will play two rounds in single-elimination style. Two wins will advance the pairs to Friday's matches. From there, the top seven pairs will move on to the CCCAA Regional Playoffs at El Camino College. 

Holland and Van Der Brink have the No. 10 seed and will face a pair from MiraCosta College. Molnar/Vannoy are seeded 17th and will face a pair from San Diego Mesa College. Broach/Lacangan are seeded 14th and will face a pair from San Diego City College. Rachael Cooke and Brynn Wallander are seeded 29th and will face off against San Diego Mesa. Hege and Spohn will face a MiraCosta pairs as the 27th seed. The action will take place in Carlsbad.
