Bio

Quiroz was the starting catcher for Palomar's 1992 and 1993 teams that won 92 games, two conference championships, two Super Regional titles, a state title when she was a sophomore and a state runner-up finish (during her freshman season). The Comets went 42-9 in 1992 and 50-3 during their state championship 1993 season. For four straight years, the first two at Palomar and then two at Oklahoma State, Quiroz was the catcher for community college All-American, NCAA Division I All-American and USA National Team member Kim Ward. The Cowgirls, with Palomar products Ward, Quiroz and April Austin in the starting lineup, placed third in the 1994 Women's College World Series, their highest finish in history. Quiroz's diving stab of a popped up bunt down the third-base line by Providence's Kim Dowd was the defensive play of the day and keyed Oklahoma State's 1-0 victory over the Friars in a regional opener that ignited the Big-12 champion Cowgirls' postseason run. Quiroz is still sixth on Oklahoma State's all-time career list for fielding percentage (.990 during the 1994 and 1995 seasons). Quiroz, whose triple put the game away as Rancho Buena Vista High beat Orange Glen in the 1990 CIF San Diego Section large schools championship game, later was head coach at Westview High, which won the 2003 Division IV San Diego Section championship, and Orange Glen. She is a 1997 graduate of Oklahoma State University
