Bio

Tyrone Davis led Coach Andy Gilmour’s Palomar College men’s basketball team to back-to-back Mission Conference co-championships in the 1975-76 and 1976-77 seasons. Davis was the top performer on both squads, averaging 17.8 points per game as a freshman and 21 points, 8.5 assists and four rebounds per game in his sophomore year. He scored a career-high 35 points against San Diego City College in 1977. A graduate of Compton High School, Davis was a two-time All-Mission Conference first team selection at Palomar. As a sophomore, he was also an all-state selection and named the Palomar College Athlete of the Year. He was selected to play for the California Community College All-American Team in the AAU National Tournament and went on to star as a point guard at the University of California, Berkeley.
