Bio

April Austin was an All-Pacific Coast Conference and all-state first-team selection playing shortstop for Coach Mark Eldridge's 1992 Palomar College softball team that went 42-9 and finished second in the state community college tournament. Based on her success with the Comets, the San Marcos High School graduate earned an athletic scholarship to Oklahoma State University, where she joined two former Comet teammates to help build the Cowgirls into one of the nation’s top teams. In the 1994 season, April was an all-conference performer while leading Oklahoma State to the Southwestern Conference championship and a lofty national ranking. She went on to lead that OSU team to a third-place finish in the NCAA Women’s College World Series, where she was named the all-national tournament shortstop.
