Semester Wind Down

SAN MARCOS, CA (5/20/2021) -- As we near the end of the semester, we want to take the time to highlight all of our student-athletes, coaches and support staff who have been on campus conditioning and making sure we have all been safe. Our teams were allowed back on campus in groups beginning at the end of March. Baseball and softball were allowed back first and set the example for the following groups. Football, men's and women's soccer and women's basketball followed with men's basketball coming last.

Every student-athlete and staff member was required to complete a COVID daily screening through the Athletic Tracking System (ATS). Everyone was also screened when coming onto campus by campus volunteers. Masks were worn and social distancing was in place. Teams worked through their varying phases and followed the National Strength and Conditioning Association's recommendations. All teams followed the 50/30/20/10 reduction of weekly volume or workload, meaning they increased their effort towards 100% game speed. In addition to the daily screenings, 33% of each team and staff were surveillance tested every week.

Well done Comets!
