Softball and baseball return to campus

SAN MARCOS, CA (3/26/2021) -- A year after the cancellation of the baseball and softball seasons due to COVID-19, the two teams returned to campus this week for Phase One of Resocialization, following the California Community College guidelines. During this phase, the teams are in pods of 10 or less and are only allowed to do conditioning drills with no equipment. These two teams will be in Phase One for two weeks before moving onto Phase Two, assuming there are no positive cases of COVID.

Since the middle of February, all student-athletes, coaches and department staff have been logging into the Athletic Tracking System to fill out their initial COVID screening and their daily COVID screening questionnaires. In addition to this, the student-athletes have completed their physical forms, baseline concussion testing, and have completed their baseline COVID tests. When the student-athletes, coaches and approved essential staff come to campus, they have their temperatures taken by college personnel and receive a sticker before being allowed to proceed.

Thank you to the student-athletes and coaches of the two teams who have paved the way for a possible return for other sports.
