Comet alums make postseason ending playoff droughts

SAN MARCOS, CA (9/29/2020) – As Major League Baseball's American and National Leagues' Wild Card Series gets underway, we wanted to catch you up on Nick Vincent, James Hoyt and Tim Hill as there teams both made the postseason.

Vincent and Hoyt are both on the Marlins' roster. Hoyt has made 24 appearances this season with a 2-0 record. In 14.2 innings pitched, he has 20 strikeouts and an ERA of 1.23 and a WHIP of 1.16. Vincent has appeared in 21 games this season. He has pitched 22.1 innings and recorded 17 strikeouts and has an ERA of 4.43 and a WHIP of 1.30. Vincent finished the regular season with a 1-2 record.

Hill, who plays for the Padres, has made 23 appearances this season with a perfect 3-0 record. He has pitched 18 innings where he struck out 20 batters and finished with an ERA of 4.50 and a WHIP of 1.28.

The Marlins will face the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on Wednesday at 2 p.m., while the Padres will face the St. Louis Cardinals Wednesday afternoon as the home team at Petco Park. This is the Marlins' first trip to the postseason since 2003 and the Padres last appeared in 2006.
