Comets move up to No. 8 in State Coaches Association poll

SACRAMENTO (12-24-2018) – Palomar College has moved from the No. 10 ranking the California Community College Women's Basketball Coaches Association's Dec. 10 poll to No. 8 in the state to in rankings released on Dec. 24.

Moorpark (14-0) continues to hold down the No. 1 ranking in California, followed by No. 2 Diablo Valley (13-0), No. 3 Merced (11-2), No. 4 College of the Sequoias (13-2), No. 5 Los Angeles Trade Tech (12-2), No. 6 City College of San Francisco (9-2), No. 7 Pasadena City College (10-2), coach Leigh Marshall's No. 8 Comets (12-13), No. 9 Mt. San Jacinto (10-3) and No. 10 San Joaquin Delta (10-3).

Rounding out the Top Twenty teams are No. 11 East Los Angeles (11-4), No. 12 Sacramento City College (10-4), No. 13 Mt. SAC (9-4), No. 14 Glendale (11-1), No. 15 No. 15 El Camino (10-4), No. 16 Ventura (10-6), No. 17 Chabot (9-4), No. 18 Sierra (9-4), No. 19 Irvine Valley (7-2), and No. 20 College of the Siskiyous (8-2).

Moorpark, Pasadena and L.A. Trade Tech are ranked 1-2-3 in Southern California by the CCCWBCA.

Beginning in January, the CCCWBCA Coaches Poll will conduct only Southern California and Northern California Regional polls.

Also starting in January, the California College Sports Information Association poll will debut and will conduct the only state-wide rankings which will run through the remainder of the 2018-19 season.

Palomar will begin play in the Southern California Crossover Challenge on Friday, January 3 by hosting Cerritos in The Dome at 6 p.m.
