Rouse's 26 points leads Comets in 63-50 victory over Mt. SAC

SAN MARCOS (12-05-2018) / (UPDATED 12-06-2018)– Anthony Rouse pumped in 26 points on Friday evening in The Dome as Palomar knocked off Mt. SAC 63-50 in a physical non-conference basketball game.

Rouse, a 5-foot-10 freshman guard from Murrieta Valley High School, played the entire 40 minutes and went 10-for-17 from the field, 2-for-4 on 3-pointers, 4-6 from the free throw line and adding 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals.

Other double-figure scorers for Palomar were Michael Chatman (El Camino High, 13 points, 11 rebounds, 5 of them on the offensive board, an assist, 3 blocks and a steal) and Anthony Smith (Vista Murrieta High, 11 points, 5 rebounds, an assist and 3 steals).

Also for the Comets, Marek Sullivan (Torrey Pines High) came off the bench to contribute 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals even though he only scored 5 points.

The teams were tied at 28 points apiece at the end of the first half but Palomar came out and dominated the second half, outscoring the Mounties 35-22 over the final 20 minutes.

Only a 3-pointer at the buzzer from the left baseline by Gilbert Ontiveros  prevented the final margin from being 63-47 and 35-19 in the second half.

Palomar outrebound Mt. SAC 39-26.
