Palomar's women's water polo team lost 13-12 to Mesa for the PCAC title on Saturday

PC women splash past G-House 13-3, face Mesa for PCAC crown

CHULA VISTA (10-31-2018) / (UPDATED 11-04-2018) – The Palomar women's women's and men's water polo teams both lost in championship games of the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Tournament on Saturday at Southwestern College to end their seasons. The Comets' women's and men's teams both had finished in second place during the regular season.

The women's team gave San Diego Mesa, the regular-season champion, a major battle before seeing its season come to a conclusion, losing by one goal to the Olympians 13-12. While the Comets stay home, Mesa moves on to the Southern California Regionals.

The men's squad was defeated by regular-season champion Grossmont 21-7. The Griffins play next in the Southern California Regionals, while the PC men also stay home.

SD Mesa 13, Palomar Women 12

Emma Thomas, a sophomore out of Fallbrook High School, did the same thing she has done all season long, lead the Comets in her final community college game. She scored six goals. Katelyn Humphrey, a freshman from Elsinore High (3 goals) and Sophie White, a freshman from Vista High (2 goals, 2 assists) also contributed multi-goal perfomances for coach Mandy Thomas' Palomar team. Kelly Rowan, a sophomore out of Temecula Great Oak High had two assists and three steals. Haley Balch, a freshman from Oceanside High, scored the other Palomar goal. Goalie Taylor Bacerra, a freshman from Rancho Buena Vista High, finished with eight saves.

The Comets had defeat Grossmont 13-3 in the semifinals on Friday.
