Palomar sweeps winless Miramar for 4th win in last 6 matches

SAN MARCOS (10-10-2018) – Coach Karl Seiler's Palomar women's volleyball team, which will begin a run of matches against the Pacific Coast Conference North's top three teams on Friday, dominated winless San Diego Miramar by sweeping the Jets 3-0 on Wednesday at The Dome.

The final set scores were 25-12, 25-19, 25-18 as the Comets made it four victories in their most recent six matches after starting the season 0-8.

Palomar is 2-1 in the PCAC North and sits in a tie for second place with College of the Desert and Mt. San Jacinto going into Friday's 5 pm. match at state No. 17-ranked MiraCosta, which is alone in first place in the North Division at 3-0.

Noemi Ramos, Palomar's 5-foot-11 sophomore outside hitter / middle blocker from Orange Glen High School, again led Palomar statistically with 11 kills and 7 digs.

Jacey Smith (freshman out of El Camino High School) contributed 7 kills in the one-hour, 17-minute blow-out. Alina Lecakes-Jones (freshman from Rancho Bernardo High) added 5 kills.

Tominie Connelly (freshman from Valley Center High) led the Comets in digs (10) and service aces (6). Alexis Amador (freshman from Orange Glen High) added 9 digs.

Setter Mikayla Seiler (sophomore out of Vista Murrieta High) had 25 assists against the Jets.

Palomar wrapped up the first set after a spike by Alex Sendejas (sophomore from Vista High) when a Miramar player returned the ball into the net for the 25th point.

The Comets closed out the second set on a kill by Zeandra Brown (freshman from Oceanside High) off Seiler's assist.

And a Miramar player hit the ball out of bounds long as Palomar ended the third set and the match with its 25th point in the third set.

Miramar is tied with San Bernardino Valley, a team the Comets swept last Friday night, for last place in the PCAC North. The Wolverines and Jets have a combined overall record of 1-28.
