Thomas keys 11-2 women's water polo rout vs. Jaguars

CHULA VISTA (10-03-2018) – Emma Thomas came up big again for Palomar's women's water polo team as the Comets defeated Southwestern 11-2 in the team's Pacific Coast Athletic Conference match on Wednesday at the newly-constructed $52 million Southwestern College Aquatics Complex.

Thomas, a sophomore out of Fallbrook High School and Palomar's season leader in goals (31), assists (13) and points (44), led the Comets with five goals on six attempts. She also delivered a strong defensive performance vs. the Jaguars' season goals and points leader, Aleigha Binda, who was shut out in the match.

Katelyn Humphrey, a freshman from Elsinore High School, was the Comets' other multiple-goal contributor vs. the Jaguars with two goals on five shots.

Also scoring goals for Palomar: Rena Richardson, a sophomore out of Fallbook High School; Maddy Johnson, a freshman from Fallbrook High; Ciara Webb, a freshman from Ramona High; and Kelly Rowan, a sophomore from Great Oak High in Temecula.

Caitlan Torres and Odette Ortega had Southwestern's goals.

Coach Mandy Simon's Palomar squad advanced to 2-1 in the PCAC with the victory and is 5-10 on the season. The Jaguars are 2-3 in conference play and 3-9 overall.
