Palomar sweeps Southwestern on road for first volleyball win

CHULA VISTA (9-21-2018) -- Palomar's women's volleyball team didn't take any prisoners when the Comets recorded their first victory of the 2018 season by sweeping Southwestern from the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference South Division 3-0 on Friday evening in the Jaguars' gym.

The Comets dominated from start to finish in their 25-16, 25-9, 25-17 cross-division victory.

Noemi Ramos, a sophomore out of Orange Glen High School, led the way for coach Karl Seilers' squad with 20 kills and a .485 hitting percentage.

Setter Mikayla Seiler, the coach's daughter and a sophomore out of Vista Murrieta High School, also had a big match with 29 assists.

Cross-division matches count as non-conference matches.

The Comets will open host St. Katherine University in a non-conference match on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at The Dome, then will visit Cuyamaca from the South Division in another cross-division match on Friday, Sept. 28 before opening their PCAC North Division season when they travel to Palm Desert to face College of the Desert the following Wednesday, on Oct. 3.
