Comet Swimmers Split PCAC Dual With Grossmont

San Marcos—Coach Jem McAdams Palomar College swim teams split a PCAC dual meet with visiting Grossmont College at the Wallace Memorial Pool on Friday, Mar. 16.  The Comet women dominated their portion of the competition, posting a 176-55 victory over the Griffins, while the Grossmont men won by a 171-77 margin.

Standing out for the Palomar women were multiple-event winners Rebeka Blackburn, Madalyn Johnson and Jordann Heimbeck. Blackburn took firsts in the 200-yard freestyle (2:01.00), the 50-year freestyle (25.48) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:42.52). Johnson won the 100-yard backstroke (1:08.69), 200-yard backstroke (2:29.79) and 500-yard freestyle (5:34.99), while Heimbeck won the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:27.15) and 100-yard butterfly (1:00.35). On the men's side, Toby Fast paced the Comets with wins in the 200-yard butterfly (2:07.94) and 500-yard freestyle (5:05.65).

Following a conference tri-meet with new conference member Crafton Hills College of Yucaipa at Southwestern on Wednesday, Mar. 21, the Comets will return home to meet San Diego Mesa in another PCAC dual meet on Friday, Mar. 23. Palomar is once again slated to host the three-day PCAC Championship Meet, scheduled for Thursday-Saturday, Apr. 19-21.
