Another First for Women's Basketball: Comets Top So Cal Playoff Seed

San Marcos—Pairings for the 2018 CCCAA Southern California Regional Championship Basketball Tournament were announced late Monday, with Coach Leigh Marshall's high-flying Palomar College Comets seeded in the No. 1 position, a first for the program which dates back to the mid-1970s.

Palomar (27-1), champion of the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division and, also for a first-time ever the state's No. 1-ranked team for much of the season, will open post-season play with a home game Saturday night (Feb. 24) against the winner of Wednesday's first-round match-up between 16th-seeded Antelope Valley (15-13) and 17th-seeded Cerritos (17-13). Saturday's tip-off at The Dome is set for 7:00 p.m.

Should the Comets win Saturday's second-round game, they'll host again on Saturday, March 3, with an opportunity to gain a second-consecutive trip to the eight-team CCCAA State Championship Tournament, scheduled for Mar. 8-11 at Ventura College.
