PC splits to take 3rd place in Grossmont College Tournament
EL CAJON (12-02-2017 / 12-03-2017) -- Jackson Strong contributed back-to-back 22-point and 21-point performances on Saturday and Sunday as Palomar's men's basketball team split two games to finish third in the 46th Grossmont College Tournament.
After falling 65-58 to the tournament host, Grossmont, on Saturday the Comets forged back to down Los Angeles Southwest 61-48 in Sunday's third-place game. Strong led coach John O'Neill's squad with 21 points, going 5-for-11 from behind the 3-point and 6 rebounds. Matt Meyers scored 14 points and hauled down 5 rebounds.
Matt Beeler totaled 9 points and and 5 frebounds. And Anthony Brewer finished with 8 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists.
Palomar upped its win-loss record to 6-4.
In Friday's game vs. Grossmont, Strong scored 22 points and had 7 robounds and 3 steals. Meyers also came up big against the Griffins with 21 points, 7rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks.
The Comets went 2-1 in the tournament.
