Tim Hill to Royals' 40-man roster; 4 Comets now in Majors

KANSAS CITY (11-21-2017) -- The Kansas City Royals have added former Palomar pitcher Tim Hill to their 40-man Major League roster.

The 6-foot-4 left-hander, who recorded a save in big-league spring training last March against Milwaukee appearing as an invited non-roster player, has struck out 184 batters and walked 61 in three seasons in the Minor Leagues after being drafted in the 32nd round and signed out of Bacone College in Muskugee, Oklahoma in 2014. He compiled a 10-2 record as a senior at Bacone, pitched the Warriors into the NAIA National Tournament and was an NAIA honorable mention All-American selection.

Hill, who won a bout with cancer during the off-season in the minor leagues, struck out 75 and walked 19 pitching for Northwest Arkansas in Class AA last season. His sidearm delivery has succeeded for him throughout his college and pro careers. Hill pitched for the Comets in the 2010 season.

He joins right-handed relief pitcher Nick Vincent of the Seattle Mariners, infielder Tyler Saladino of the Chicago White Sox and right-handed reliever James Hoyt of the World Series Champion Houston Astros as ex-Comets currently on the Major League level.

Hill came to Palomar from Granada Hills Charter High School. From his arrival at Palomar to the present he's lived in San Diego and, more recently, Carlsbad.
