Comets take lead in first minute but fall in men's soccer

SAN MARCOS (9-05-2017) -- Palomar, which had played solid defense in three previous losses but had big problems trying to put the ball in the net, finally showed some offensive punch on Tuesday afternoon against Moorpark in a non-conference men's soccer game at Minkoff Field.

The Comets jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first minute (12 minutes into the game to be exact) on an unassisted goal by Tyler Kovacs. But the Raiders came back with three goals of their own before Palomar scored again and the visitors held on for a 3-2 victory.

Palomar's second goal was scored by Romero Hernandez off an Angel Hernandez assist in the 70th minute, cutting Moorpark's margin of victory to one goal.

Cole Carter and Jaime Fournier combined to record eight saves for the Comets in goal. Carter played the first half and notched three saves. Fournier came on for the last 45 minutes and had five saves.
